Vegas
2005-07-18, 5:33 p.m.

I think Las Vegas might be the only city in the world where the tourist attractions are the HOTELS fascinating, isnt it?

On that note, I went to Vegas for the weekend. It was semi-spur of the moment, planned on Tuesday of the week before. My friend Danny sometimes gets free rooms in Sams Town so we decided to head up there for the weekend. And of course, I took pictures.

We left at 11 AM on Friday to beat some of the Friday night traffic. The temperature in Baker (which is a little more than halfway there) was 121 degrees. Dayum! Thank god for air conditioning. Friday night, we checked into the hotel, took some naps and then went to Paris. The hotel Paris, that is.

Here are some pictures from walking around Paris:

And then we rode up to the top of the Eiffel Tower. From there, we could see all the lights of Vegas and were able to watch the fountain show at the Bellagio:

And then we walked around outside for a little while:

And then we went back to the hotel and crashed.

The next day, we had a leisurely morning, ate at the breakfast buffet at Sams Town and then took a few pictures in their atrium. They actually have a really beautiful and relaxing atrium.

Then we went to the Liberace Museum (I couldnt take pictures of any of the exhibits, sorry)

Drove around the strip some more:

I think this is one of my favorite pictures really, no explanation necessary, the sign says it all:

And some of Paris during the day:

And a random sign:

After driving around in 118 degree heat (to which an air conditioner hardly does justice when you are in stop and go traffic on the Las Vegas Strip), we went to the Mirage:

At the Mirage, we ate lunch and went to the Siegfried and Roy Secret Gardens:

This elephant was bobbing its head around like it was dancing to the music:

All the big cats were sleeeeeeeeeepy. They are nocturnal so big surprise there But some were soaking in the pools trying to stay cool.

Thus concludes my photographic journey through Vegas. Thank you and come again. Be sure to stop by the ticket booth on your way out for a complimentary souvenir.

In other news, a guy I chatted with for 30 seconds has offered to father my children. How kind and generous of him I normally dont post IM conversations, but this one is comical (and is it just me, but is immaturity obvious or what?)

IMMATUREBOY [4:58 PM]: hi
Janet [4:58 PM]: hi
IMMATUREBOY [4:59 PM]: how are you
Janet [4:59 PM]: good and you?
IMMATUREBOY [4:59 PM]: ok
IMMATUREBOY [4:59 PM]: you are pretty
Janet [5:00 PM]: thanks
IMMATUREBOY [5:00 PM]: lets hang out
IMMATUREBOY [5:00 PM]: what city are you in
Janet [5:01 PM]: i don't even know you
IMMATUREBOY [5:01 PM]: i want to know u
Janet [5:01 PM]: i don't "hang out"
IMMATUREBOY [5:02 PM]: ok lets spend time together
Janet [5:03 PM]: i'm not giong to spend time with a stranger
IMMATUREBOY [5:03 PM]: why
Janet [5:03 PM]: because i don't even know enough about you to know if i'm interested in spending time with you
Janet [5:03 PM]: how old are you?
IMMATUREBOY [5:03 PM]: 26
Janet [5:04 PM]: i see. well i'm 37
IMMATUREBOY [5:04 PM]: it's ok
Janet [5:05 PM]: i don't get the sense from you that you are interested in me as anything more than a warm body and frankly, i have no need, nor time, for that
IMMATUREBOY [5:06 PM]: what do you mean
Janet [5:08 PM]: i mean, you say you want to get to know me, yet don't ask a single question about me, or even really engage in conversation and the 5th thing you have to say is "let's hang out"
IMMATUREBOY [5:08 PM]: ok how was your day
IMMATUREBOY [5:08 PM]: where you live
Janet [5:08 PM]: yorba linda
IMMATUREBOY [5:08 PM]: how many kids
Janet [5:09 PM]: none
IMMATUREBOY [5:09 PM]: would you like to have any?
Janet [5:10 PM]: i hope to some day, if i find the right person
IMMATUREBOY [5:11 PM]: cool how may
Janet [5:12 PM]: i'm not really sure, i suppose it depends on when i get started adn how i feel after having the first one
IMMATUREBOY [5:12 PM]: how about now
Janet [5:13 PM]: i don't know, if i got started now, i'd probably have two
Janet [5:13 PM]: but it's hard to say
IMMATUREBOY [5:13 PM]: let's do it
Janet [5:13 PM]: that kind of goes along with the whole "I don't really know you" thing
IMMATUREBOY [5:14 PM]: sorry

And thats all for today. Maybe soon Ill have the energy to tackle more substantial subject matter, but we all need an oasis in the desert.
